So it’s been awhile. I realize I really went off topic on my last post but rather than edit it and clean it up, I’m leaving it as is until I receive enough feedback to revise it.
Anyway, things have gotten quieter on the Democrat revolution, good news. I still find it amusing that so many people are convinced one man is going to ruin this country. Go figure. I know what he said, implied and has done but in reality, I don’t expect any of those things to come to fruition. Time will tell.
So Christmas is just around the corner. I’m going to become a Grandpa next week and I just got a new position at work. Lots of changes heading into the end of the year.
This Thanksgiving was different as it was just my immediate family, wife, two sons. My daughter moved to Pittsburgh for her first real job. She loves it up there but I can’t stand the thought of the winters. We’ll spend Christmas up there this year, though.
So here is my mind vitamin for this post: Uber recently tested a new self-driving big rig truck by having it drive 100 miles to deliver a truckload of beer! Their vision is that a truck driver would still be in the truck and required to navigate city streets and any time the autopilot feels it’s necessary for driver intervention, but when on the highway, their confident their autopilot technology will be successful. It’s an interesting spin on the self-driving car as it wouldn’t necessarily put anyone out of work, but could make their job easier. This seems counter to what I’ve been hearing as to their eventual desire to have a fleet of self-driving Uber vehicles to shuffle people around, no drivers required. Will be interesting to see what happens down the road.
One more thing, who else is still waiting for the flying car to be a thing? You know the one that Popular Science used to have articles about in the 70’s and 80’s? Forget self-driving, I want self-flying….
